Somehow, some way, 2022 has come to an end. We won't say we're particularly sad to see it go, but we are taking some time to reflect on the last twelve months of fashion—whether that's personal or global. See what the Top Quality Replica Hermes Belts team is looking back on, below, and pair that with reflective looks you can really see yourself in.
We’ve seen fast fashion companies exploit the rapid pace of moving trends to a point where they’re now being talked about as some of the most popular brands for consumers. But to combat this, we’re seeing more repurposing and approaches by fashion brands that counteract fast fashion’s negative effects on our environment. This past year, I’ve gained greater admiration for Yvon Chuinard, who became the key figure in providing these solutions after he and his family decided to transfer ownership of Patagonia to a nonprofit organization helping to combat climate change. It gives me hope for a more sustainable industry, and I’m hoping to see if more fashion companies will follow suit.
My huge take away from this year is learning the concept of personal style. When you wear your clothing—no matter if it’s niche or what some consider basic—are you doing it well and does it feel like you? I also learned the concept of repurposing old clothing into something new and fun, really putting my creativity to work and again helping me develop my personal style. Personal style always trumps fast fashion!
Last New Year, my resolution was to put more time into mending and sewing my clothes. But about halfway through the year, I came to terms with the fact that I'm better off cultivating a good relationship with my local tailor. Because of that, though, I’ve become obsessed with studying the fit and structure of well-made pieces (and a particular fascination with traditional menswear) that’s helped inform what looks and feels good to me. Avery Trufelman’s podcast, American Ivy, was a huge catalyst in this obsession—I highly recommend.
After years of embracing Zoom outfits, this year I finally felt compelled to try something new! Adding some long-lasting pieces to my wardrobe without focusing on what’s trending or popular.
For years, I was struggling with finding my own sense of style and buying clothes only for the hype. I now feel like my style has reached a point where it's pretty stagnant (not a bad thing!), and I understand how I like certain clothes to fit on my body. Every time I purchase a piece, I always ask myself if I'm still going to be wearing this item years from now. If it's a yes, it's a cop.
Finding your own personal style is a lot more fun than following trends. I went from skinny jeans to big flowy pants, and I'm never going back. I do think that platforms such as TikTok are pushing forward the narrative that fast fashion is not the way to go, and that nothing will beat personal style. I have friends who often sell second-hand vintage clothing, further emphasizing recycling old clothes and giving them new purpose rather than buying whatever is hot and trendy that season.
In 2022, I tried to build my closet with classic staples and layering pieces. However, I am a sucker for the trends too! One thing I noticed in fashion culture is the inspiration TV shows and movies have on the fashion world/trends. Shows like Stranger Things, White Lotus, House of the Dragon, Wednesday, Yellowstone, etc., have had such an impact on fashion trends that I personally have caught myself leaning into. I now have enough cowboy hats and boots I can definitely be cast as the next extra on Yellowstone!
Aw yeah!
