This edit is a reflective homage, an invitation to revisit the enduring codes of Valentino Garavani through pieces that carry his spirit forward. Vintage Valentino, alongside garments shaped by the same devotion to line, color, and femininity, allows his legacy to remain not only remembered but worn.
Born in Voghera, Italy, and drawn early on to Paris, Valentino ultimately chose Rome as the home of his fashion house, opening his atelier on Via Condotti in 1960 and grounding both his life and work there. From that address, he helped define a distinctly Italian vision of haute couture and later became the first Italian designer to present on the Paris haute couture calendar.
In Rome, he met his lifelong business partner and confidant, Giancarlo Giammetti, whose dedication helped shape the maison into a global symbol of elegance and discipline. Together, they built a world defined by rigor, romance, and unwavering standards.
From dressing Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to moving effortlessly among the jet set of Capri during la dolce vita, Valentino embodied an era when elegance was a way of life. For nearly half a century, he dressed the world’s most celebrated women before bidding farewell with his final collectsion in Spring 2008 and passing away last month at the age of 93.
His palette, most famously Valentino Red alongside luminous whites and softened neutrals, became an emotional language rather than a trend. Drawing often from classical ideals, his designs draped and glided across the body, honoring femininity with precision and restraint.
In tribute to his lifelong devotion to craft, we have curated exceptional vintage Valentino pieces from the 1980s and 1990s, alongside complementary archival finds. Together, they capture the enduring codes of his work and offer a rare opportunity to engage with a legacy that continues to define timeless style. Shop the edit below.
