Don’t let the streamlined minimalism of Fall 2017’s structured suiting or its futurist cocktail frocks fool you—when it comes to accessories, arty eclecticism is still the prevailing mood. A magpie mentality came through in the bedazzled shoes at Dolce & Gabbana and Dries Van Noten and the quirky earrings at Alexander McQueen and Céline. Altuzarra upgraded frame bags with crafty knotted lattices and Christopher Kane made Crocs look couture with a little fur lining. There were even talismanic necklaces at Valentino and loaf-print hats at Loewe, which added spirituality and comedy to the season’s kitschy mix. In short, the bolder the shoe, bag, or earring, the better.
