Though grand sets and stacked front rows help define a designer’s world, the little details are where a vision can really begin to take shape. With clothes leaning matter-of-fact and pragmatic this season, there was a lot of room for eclectic accessories.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen of The Row think you should reconsider your grandmother’s pearls. Tory Burch and co. are endorsing a pea-green pump. And why not? You already have them in black, white, and chocolate brown. Bags have gone fuzzy everywhere from Chanel to Loewe. And don’t leave home without your hat, whether it’s Vaquera’s pillbox balaclavas or Jean Paul Gaultier’s suited snood.
Scrunched-Up Opera Gloves
This season, no item was as equalizing as the opera-length glove. Accompanying everything from Julie Kegel’s Canadian tuxedo to the svelte jumpsuit at Pieter Mulier’s Alaïa swansong, the accessory added a dash of mid-century glamour to everything it touched.
Not Your Grandmother’s Pearls
Pearls are classics for a reason, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t enjoy a new twist. Chanel went psychedelic with iridescent teardrop earrings and necklaces that reverberated off metallic tweed and shimmering hair. Matières Fécales’s ball gag, from its show titled “The One Percent,” was a little more tongue-in-cheek.
Split Pea Soup Shoes
Move over Brat, a new shade of green is in town and with its earthy undertones it reminds us of a delicious bowl of split-pea soup. Or in Dior’s case, the iconic green chairs that populate the Jardin des Tuileries.
Everything and the Kitchen Sink Necklace
From Celine to Marni, the season’s most eye-catching necklaces had a DIY spirit—the more charms and knickknacks the merrier. Schiaparelli says you can wrap a chunky chain around your wrist, too.
Chapeaux, Chapeaux!
Fall 2026 turned out to be quite a head-y season, with sporty fur-trimmed caps at Hermès, avant-garde hats at Yohji Yamamoto, and silk t-shirts fashioned into turbans by milliner Stephen Jones for Givenchy.
Something to Clutch
Classy and succinct—a clutch puts a period on any outfit, even when it’s a bag of Moschino-branded chocolate-dipped churros.
Puff Piece
Faux fur stoles stormed the runways for fall 2025 and they’re still coming on strong a year later. It’s always nice to have something to warm you up, whether that’s a Chopova Lowena muff or, quite literally, your furry friend.
Hot Fuzz
The fuzzy fanaticism didn’t stop at scarves and stoles. From Bottega Veneta to Fendi, handbags were given the fluffy treatment.
A Big Ole Belt Buckle
Something distinctly Western has been trotting onto runways as of late. See: Chloé’s bohemian cowgirl or Jean Paul Gaultier’s gorpcore getups.
Ear Party
Like statement necklaces, chunky earrings are once again on top. Saint Laurent’s sparkling birds were substantial enough to take flight.
Pops of Pinks
Pink for fall? Groundbreaking. Pops of Percy Pig pink, fuchsia, and dusty rose enlivened this season’s accessories. Maybe it’s the reverberating influence of millennial pink, 10 years on.
Sporty Sunglasses
Kiko Kostadinov was inspired by bird watching this season—a fitting activity considering all the avian references we saw. May as well pick up the trending hobby, don some UV-protected sunglasses, and pick up a pair of binoculars, too!
