Some Bunny to Love: A Brief History of Fashion’s Fascination with Rabbits

They’ll be no mass egg hunts this weekend, no Fifth Avenue parade. There can still be bunnies, though. As an alternative to the ones made of chocolate, please consider those below. Free of calories, designers pulled them like rabbits from the hats of their imaginations.

Among the herd collectsed here are flirtatious headdresses by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton; ears of grey from Thom Browne—who else? After sending his Alices down the runway this fall, Francesco Risso made an appearance as the White Rabbit. Not long after the world as we knew it disappeared. An Vandervorst and Filip Arick’s masked bunny from fall 2015 most closely resembles the new normal.

But just as you might hunt for stray jelly beans that have become hidden under piles of paper “grass” in the bottom of an Easter basket, so must we search for glimmers of hope in the midst of this pandemic.
