At 28, Bad Bunny Is Leveling Up His Style

Happy birthday, Bad Bunny! The Puerto Rican rapper turns 28 today, and while there’s much to celebrate about the star this year—namely, his upcoming world tour—we’re taking the opportunity to highlight his fashion sense, which just keeps getting better. Never one to shy away from bright colors and bold silhouettes, the artist is one of the music scene’s most exciting, risk-taking dressers. In honor, Vogue is taking a look at some of his best recent outfits.

Over the past year, Bad Bunny and his stylist Storm Pablo have found their stride. Their red carpet and performance looks are always dressy, yet never too stuffy or overstyled. One of Bad Bunny’s best ensembles was from November’s American Music Awards: Instead of the standard suit, he made the case for the red carpet puffer coat. He slipped into a minty cropped jacket from Entire Studios, paired with a white tank, seafoam trousers, and even insulated shoes to match. In February, he also performed in Los Angeles wearing a padded, quilted yellow and purple jacket—to match his Lakers jersey, of course.

The rapper has also proved that he can suit up, but in his own way. At the 2021 Latin Grammys, for instance, he wore a sleek Lanvin suit that demanded a double-take with its bright-red hue. At the Latin Billboard Awards, he went for a more subdued cream, double-breasted suit by Botter, but finished off with his signature rectangular, tinted shades. And what about when he wore a black, tailored Burberry topcoat to the Grammys, while carrying a sunflower and sporting a bunny-ear hat? There’s always an element to his ensembles that makes it playful and fun—and at 28, his fashion sense just continues to level up. That, in itself, deserves a cake with candles.
