Iris Apatow Did Her Own Eyeliner for Pretty Lethal

Iris Apatow is a longtime beauty lover—and she has the receipts to prove it. First, there’s the 2012 ParaNorman red carpet, where a nine-year-old Apatow paired zombie face paint with a Popsicle-print dress. There’s also her short-lived YouTube channel.

“I used to make my own makeup tutorials!” she says, holding her phone to the camera to reveal a video aptly titled “Everyday Makeup!” from 2017. “Look at me now doing the same makeup, the same blush,” she adds with a laugh.

The 23-year-old actor likes to give credit where it’s due. She thanks her mom’s (actor Leslie Mann, who has “the most incredible skin”) and grandmother’s good genes, but she’s crafted a curated routine with products like the Hyaluronic Serum from Dr. Barbara Sturm (also loved by Mila Kunis) and plenty of SPF from Supergoop! It’s all a far cry from the hand soap she says she used to take off makeup in high school.

After she walks us through her skin-care routine, the Pretty Lethal star takes a surprising first step in makeup: the eyes.

“I start with my eyebrows, because I don’t like touching my face with makeup on,” she says. Then it’s time for the signature cat eye that Apatow and her character Zoe have in common. Using the tip of her filled brows as a guide, Apatow creates a thin line with Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Easy Glide Liquid Eyeliner.

Throughout her Vogue “Beauty Secrets” video, she shares plenty of her other tried-and-true products, noting, “This video is like my magnum opus of makeup…I sat with my makeup and was like, ‘Which one of you are my most reliable soldiers?’”
