Whimsigoth For Summer

As summer approaches, we’re all looking to romanticize our lives a little. Personally, I’ll be pretending I am Sandra Bullock’s portrayal of Sally Owens in the witchy coastal classic, Practical Magic. The movie’s preppy New England take on witchcraft, heartache, and vigilante justice is really speaking to me. And I’m not the only one, a whole term has been invented for particular aesthetic: Whimsigoth. Think ’90s Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Craft, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. This takes sartorial form in dainty camisole/cardigan combos topped with beaded chokers and the occasional maxi skirt. Astrological symbols are welcome talismans to complete the witchy look.
