To the Ballet

From the age of four until I left home to go to college, I danced ballet. Several evenings each week, I would pull on my tights, put my hair in a bun, and pas de bourrée across the floor of Miss Shelly’s School of Dance in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Consequently, ballet attire has a special place in my little dancing heart. Ballerina chic (I refuse to call it balletcore) has become in vogue of late, with pieces like stirrup leggings, wrap cardigans, and pale pink bodysuits taking center stage. Feel free to layer on tulle, though a full tutu might be taking this trend too literally. Then top—well, bottom—it off with ballet flats and you’ve got yourself a perfect assemblé.
