In 2026, I’m hoping to start a style transformation. I have found that as I close the chapter on my 20s, I am not as drawn to many of the pieces I’ve held onto most of my adult life. And as someone with a background in vintage buying, there is a lot of unnecessary clothing clutter hanging around in my closet. I’ll be ditching the old graphic tees and ill-fitting vintage men’s jeans to focus instead on investing in more hero pieces that have potential to become my everyday uniform. My 2026 will be all about paring down and upgrading my style.

Five years into working from home, and I think I’ve finally accepted that my personal style is rooted in comfort. I’ve noticed I tend to spend more on occasionwear and dressier pieces but flinch at the thought of investing in elevated loungewear, turning to the same ratty sweatpants day after day. I would like to shift my budget and focus towards thoughtfully and intentionally expanding my selection of basics, loungewear, and practical (but cool) footwear to really elevate my day-to-day wardrobe. I also want to have more fun mixing and matching elevated items with more casual ones instead of saving my nice clothes for special occasions.

I have two set goals in mind for this year! My first would be finding a nice Canadian Tuxedo set. Having traveled to Japan in 2025, I was deeply inspired by the country's denim craftsmanship. I’d love to find a unique set that is still of the utmost quality. My second suggestion is to start investing in higher-quality accessories. It’d be nice to start having an everyday scarf or quality belt I can always rely on.

I’m focusing on building a wardrobe that reflects how I actually live and work. Since I work remotely, comfort is essential—but I want my everyday pieces to still feel polished and intentional. I’m moving away from impulse purchases and instead prioritizing elevated basics and capsule-worthy staples that I can envision styling multiple ways. Before buying anything new, I want to picture it working for my day-to-day routine as well as for dinners, girls’ nights, and more elevated occasions. I’m also learning to part with items that aren’t truly comfortable or versatile, even if I like them at the moment. The goal is a closet of effortless, timeless pieces I feel comfortable and confident in—very ’90s model off-duty energy.

I want to continue being intentional about my purchases moving into 2026. This means purchasing from boutiques that share the same ideals as me, purchasing from brands that create quality products, and wearing items that have a long-term lifespan.

My style resolution is tied to a greater resolution of having more special occasions. I love getting dressed up, but last year it felt like I had fewer reasons to do so. This year, I want to host more dinners at my house, go out on the town more often, see plays/ballets/concerts…anything to elevate and celebrate every day with the people I hold dear.
