Favorite holiday tradition: For 20 years, my family has cooked an insanely rich lasagna recipe on Christmas Eve and watched Christmas movies from the '40s. The lasagna is always somehow different, and the movies are fun and kitschy, no matter how many times we’ve seen them.

Favorite holiday tradition: Every year, my husband and I host a holiday party and fill our house with all our favorite people. We eat and laugh and usually end the night playing records and all singing along. The next day, I wake up, bake a ton of sugar cookies, and then my closest girlfriends come over in the afternoon to decorate them and exchange Secret Santa gifts. It’s my favorite weekend of the year.

Favorite holiday tradition: We have always begun Christmas Eve with a candlelight service where everyone lights a candle, and the whole room glows as we sing holiday songs we’ve known since childhood. It sets such a warm, nostalgic tone for the night. Afterward, we gather at my parents’ house for a late dinner and our annual gift tradition. Each person gives a small gift to every other person, and since our family is not exactly tiny, the unwrapping turns into a long, happy marathon where we ooh and ahh one by one opening gifts. It always spills into the earliest moments of Christmas, and there’s something magical about being together that late, still talking, still laughing, still opening one more little surprise.

Favorite holiday tradition: Baking and decorating cookies with my girls, then setting some out with a glass of milk for Santa and arranging carrots for the reindeer. The best part is seeing their faces in the morning when they check to see if Santa and his reindeer came and enjoyed the treats.

Favorite holiday tradition: Every Thanksgiving morning, my sister and I would wake up super early to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade with our warm cups of tea. After it was done, we would help my mom cook all the side dishes in the kitchen, while my dad was the best at smoking the turkey! After a late lunch, we’d all enjoy digesting the food while playing Monopoly and decorating the house for Christmas together, while listening to holiday music!
