Cool-Girl Label Nanushka Celebrated Its New Manhattan Store With a Cocktail Party

Among the things worth celebrating last night was the opening of Nanushka’s highly anticipated New York City flagship. The Budapest-based brand is beloved by the fashionable set for its ’70s-inspired basics, modernized by impeccable tailoring and drape. Founder and creative director Sandra Sandor toasted the brand’s multifloor SoHo flagship by opening the doors early for a celebratory cocktail party.

Sandor received congratulatory hugs from the likes of Dylan Sprouse, Barbara Palvin, Deon Hinton, Sofía Sanchez de Betak, Alexandra Carl, and more. Guests were treated to libations care of Sprouse’s meadery, All-Wise, while conceptual food artist Laila Gohar was enlisted to create an edible installation almost too pretty to eat.

According to Sandor, New Yorkers compose the brand’s largest customer base in the United States—a well-trained eye might observe that most of the room was wearing Nanushka, and all were scoping out the fall collectsion for new additions to their wardrobes. Though the brand made its New York Fashion Week debut just a few seasons ago, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Moda Operandi, and Net-a-Porter were all quick to partner with it.

With such a vast reach of both brick-and-mortar and e-commerce retailers, supplementing Nanushka’s Budapest flagship with a New York City sister store is a continuation of the brand’s upward trajectory. “If we do a pop-up or a corner display within one of our larger retail partners, the space gives us limited options to show our brand values—functionality, practicality, and minimalism,” Sandor told Vogue at the party. “With a store like this, I really feel that we’re able to show who we are.”
