Arlo Parks is also having a Brat summer. The 23-year-old singer hit Paris for her first ever couture show, Thom Browne fall 2024, where she gets hyped for the day with everyone’s favorite album du jour—and some caffeine to help. “I’ll usually roll out of bed, double up on caffeine (espresso AND flat white), work out in the morning—so do some HIIT or boxing—whilst blasting Brat till my eardrums burst,” Parks tells Vogue. “Then my bestie Daniyel and I will have some breakfast, wander through the streets looking at the architecture and talking about life. Then I’ll watch him watch season one of the queer version of The Ultimatum.”
Getting ready for a fashion show is a much different M.O. than preparing to hit the stage. “I think it’s more mental than physical," Parks says. "When I’m prepping for a show I’m doing star jumps and pushups and thrashing around.” But prepping for Thom Browne takes mental energy. “For a show I’m just getting in the mood to appreciate fashion as art so it’s a more quiet preparation practice—ambient music, tea and candles.” (Parks has a clear reverence for fashion. As such, she’s been dressed by everybody from Gucci to Simone Rocha.)
A classic, impeccably tailored gray skirt suit was Park's look of choice for the Thom Browne show. “There was something classically chic about it," she says. "It’s rare that I go for the pocket square [and] tie—almost debonair energy—but I felt so myself wearing it. I love the fact that Thom Browne has such a specific taste; There is a sense of uniform but also space for everyone to wear the clothes differently and show up as themselves.”
