Sunday night, the best gifs of the 2017 Oscars quickly piled up. And while that was to be expected, considering the fact that any red carpet is typically easy fodder for awkward moments, this year of course came with a twist. At the end of the night, La La Land was mistakenly announced as the winner for best picture instead of Moonlight. The crowd--and the Internet--went wild.
And as irresistible as the gifs from that moment are, the evening's earlier renditions were nothing to scoff at. Red carpet interviews, conducted by Ryan Seacrest and others, created ample opportunities for cryptic facial expressions and awkward laughs. The king and queen of the gif-able red carpet this year was Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. The duo kicked off a photo bombing streak, and hammed it up repeatedly while walking towards the Dolby Theatre. Timberlake, for his part, continued to create gifs for himself and for others once he got inside. His intro number, a song-and-dance routine, may have been easy for the life-long showman to pull off, but the guests in attendance weren't as easy on their feet. (Taraji P.
