“I was seriously considering taking a beta-blocker before this interview,” Dan Levy tells guest hosts Hannah Jackson and Margaux Anbouba on today’s episode of The Run-Through. “The first time I ever took a beta-blocker was, like, an hour and a half before hosting the Emmys.” Luckily for this generally anxious trio, the stakes in Vogue’s podcast studio were much lower.
Levy came on to the show ahead of the April 9 release of Big Mistakes, his new comedy series on Netflix, co-created with Rachel Sennott. (The two met while working on The Idol, they wrote the pilot together, “and the rest is history!”) Like Schitt’s Creek before it, Big Mistakes is a family story—but this time, it centers on two siblings who stumble into the world of organized crime. “Committing to an idea that you feel excited to tell in a long-form format is an intense thing,” Levy says. “And I have a very irrational fear of being blackmailed into organized crime.”
Levy’s personal style is another big topic. It’s evolved quite a bit since his teenage years in Toronto, when shopping at Club Monaco was the thing to do; these days, he’s good friends with the likes of Jonathan Anderson and Michael Rider.
Also on the episode, Chioma Nnadi and British Vogue’s Laura Ingham sit down to discuss their iteration of the Replica Hermes Bag Reviews Vintage Market—co-hosted by Alexa Chung and Lila Moss last weekend—which raised money for the UK-based charity Give Your Best. They also gushed about their April cover star, Olivia Rodrigo, before closing out their chat with some big news: that Christopher Kane would soon be stepping into the role of creative director at Mulberry. Bravo!
