First launched for Pre-Fall 2021, the Balenciaga Le Cagole gave the house’s Motorcycle bag a new lease of life during the Y2K revival. Bag to the stars since 2000, the original motorcycle bag, now known as the City bag, was on the arm of every Fashion Week attendee at the time including celebrities such as Kate Moss and the Olsen Twins. Anyone who was anyone was rocking this bag back in the Noughties!

Designed by Demna Gvasalia during his tenure as Balenciaga’s Creative Director, the Le Cagole takes all the beloved features of the original motorcycle bag and adapts them into a smaller, curved version. It features the original’s flat metal studs, the tassels, the buckles and even the attached mirror – and fits them into a more modern and smooth-cornered shape for a sleeker look.

The Le Cagole quickly became one of the defining bags of the Y2K revival, with Dua Lipa, Julia Fox, Bella Hadid and Kim Kardashian among the celebrities seen carrying it. Although its peak hype has cooled since 2022, Balenciaga still sells the line in 2026, giving it more staying power than a one-season It bag.

Styles and Sizes

The Le Cagole is available in three sizes: Mini, XS and Small.

All sizes feature a zip fastening, an adjustable shoulder strap with a braided leather shoulder pad, a removable heart-shaped mirror and a cotton canvas lining.
