From Robson Street to Gastown, West 4th and beyond, Vancouver B.C. has some seriously good shopping. Throw in a stunning harborside setting and nearby outdoor activities and you’ll see why Vancouver is one of our favorite homes away from home. Take a virtual stroll through the city’s coolest boutiques, below.
Kleah and Josh Michnik dreamed up the idea to open a boutique in their hometown of Vancouver while living on the beach in sunny Los Angeles. The couple dubbed the shop Charlie & Lee, stocking the shelves with a thoughtful selection of independent, local, made-in-North-America, and/or ethically sourced goods. Each piece is handpicked by Kleah to be taken home and loved for a long time.
There is no secret meaning behind this shop’s coded name. Clayton Chan, co-founder and creative director, named 017 after messing around on Photoshop and discovering he really liked the way the numbers looked together. That simple visual pushed him to build out the sleek urban brand. Situated in Vancouver’s Gastown, this shop provides an original perspective on fashion through a diverse selection of designers. By combings through the market for hard-to-find labels and sought-after contemporary designers, Chan stocks everything from t-shirts to pants to coats that blur the line between traditional mens- and womenswear. 017’s motto: “If we don’t have full faith in a brand and their product, we simply will not carry it.” Amen.
Neighbour is one of those shops where you could spend a long time just standing and wishing you could live there. The menswear boutique focuses on quality pieces over fleeting trends, stocking the pristine racks with some of our favorite designers like Margaret Howell, Orslow, and Auralee. And don’t miss their selection of top-tier womenswear from their sister boutique, Woman.
