Do you have a signature styling habit?
I spend about 125 days a year on the road for my other job as an expedition leader for a travel company (I just visited my 75th country last year). So, my wardrobe as a whole has to be very packing-friendly. I firmly believe you don’t have to sacrifice your personal style while you’re traveling—there are simply too many tourists in loungewear and gym shoes bouncing around the world. I opt for comfortable dresses, trousers with vintage tees or crisp white button-ups, and footwear I know I can walk for miles in. I also love a matching set. I always carry a sweater draped over my shoulder, some oversized sunglasses, and a cute mid-size bag to tote everything around. My best advice is to pack a hand steamer so you never look disheveled and a box of fun jewelry so you can accessorize and make wearing the same outfits feel new.
What’s a fun fashion memory from your childhood?
For the first day of middle school (In Oklahoma, mind you), I insisted on wearing hot pink, snake-skin embossed satin pants from Wet Seal paired with some huge hoop earrings. It was very much the early 2000s, but it also feels emblematic of my style sense to this day: often overdressed, always interesting.
