Hello! I'm so sorry for the delay in response. From what I've noticed when folks try it on, the gathering below the checked yoke drapes best when less fitted. Because of this, while I think you could wear either size, based on your measurements I think the fit of the medium would be more true to the intended style. Full shoulder to shoulder for the medium is : 19.5"
and with out the sleeves the measurement is : 15.5"

Hello! Thank you for reaching out. The dress does have pockets along the side seam. The shoulder measurements are negligible between the medium and large, with both measuring 15" across the shoulder, and the size medium being 14" across the body at the bottom of the checked fabric yoke, while the large was 15" at the same point. The difference is more noticeable at the under arm / across the chest, where the large measures 26" across and the medium is only 24". I hope that helps. it's a clean interior, no pockets. i guess assuming that we all have a small cc/id card carrier that we move from bag to bag - which i do ;) this approach helps domestically manufactured lines keep the price down too. hope it works for you, i love these clutches! :) gini

Hi! Our recommendation would be the size small. The elastic waist in that size measures about 28" when lightly stretched, which should be a good baseline for a comparable fit to your size 28 jeans. It's worth noting that the outseam is about 38", so they could be a little long on you. The model is pushing six feet so they appear cropped on her. Still, the hem is very simple and could easily be shortened if you preferred that look. If you have any other questions, please just let us know.
