What material is this made of? And, how prone to stretch is it? For example, if I were to pull down the front to get a breath of air, is the knit stuff enough to hold itself back up?

HI! This balaclava is made from 50% wool and 50% acrylic. This particular style is much more "hood like" so doesn't have tight gauge knitting around the edges. The acrylic aides in some recovery but over time there could some bagging if you are pulling it down a lot. It would return to its natural shape with hand washing and laying flat.
