Photo: Courtesy of Winnie Beattie2/16Lunch of poke and local beer from a secret poke spot in the back of a liquor store in Honolulu. I ate it in the back of my car with my love with the trunk open listening to music. Felt like I was 16 again!
Photo: Courtesy of Winnie Beattie3/16Rainbows are an almost daily occurrence on Oahu, but I never get tired of seeing them. This one was amazing because we could see almost the entire thing.
Photo: Courtesy of Winnie Beattie4/16Leila Thomas and Jessica Strother laying around between shots on our SS19 photoshoot with Joey Termini in the backyard of our surf house at Pipeline. We have surfed with Joey for years in Montauk, and he has since moved to Oahu. Having a friend shoot our campaign on local girls during the hype of the Billabong Pipe Masters was so fun, and totally embraced the spirit and authenticity of our brand.

Photo: Courtesy of Winnie Beattie8/16On the beach at Bonzai Pipeline. It's one of the most famous beaches and surf breaks in the world. What you cannot see are the 10-15 foot waves crashing wildly in front of her, and the beautiful surfers charging in the water.

Photo: Courtesy of Winnie Beattie11/16I love waking up in my Warm pajamas. Love waking up looking at the Pacific even more. I always have fresh flowers in my hair when I’m in Hawaii. I literally pick them up off the ground when I am walking and stick them in my bun or behind my ear.

Photo: Courtesy of Winnie Beattie13/16Leis in Hawaii traditionally are made of flowers, nuts, shells, seeds, feathers, and even bones and teeth of animals. They are often given and worn to friends and loved ones in happy times and in celebration. Growing up in Hawaii my mom usually wore shell leis as necklaces and I always loved how elegant and simple they were. I love wearing them now, even out of context in NYC. It is common to see these stands selling them, and I am struck by their natural and crafty, handmade beauty.

Photo: Courtesy of Winnie Beattie14/16Nothing is more satisfying than finding treasures like these on a beach walk. Sea urchins are my favorite finds, and when they are not broken by the surf I feel especially lucky.
Photo: Courtesy of Winnie Beattie15/16Flowers are literally everywhere in Hawaii. It is what I imagine the Garden of Eden to have been! As little girls, my sister and I would run in our backyard on the Big Island and pick up all of the plumerias, gardenias, and hibiscus that had fallen off of the trees and make leis and put them in our hair. I still look down when I walk there, and am amazed to see such beauty and color. Here I am just walking through a parking lot and there were probably 50 hibiscus between me and my car.
Photo: Courtesy of Winnie Beattie16/16I love the smell of surf wax! We have wax in all of our tote bags, beach bags, in the side panels of our cars, and it makes me so happy. This is from a great little shop in Haleiwa on the North Shore.
