"So I am spending my refund on a trip to Venice in August to see the Biennale with my son Malachy and staying at the Hotel Excelsior on the Lido. I want to add to the splurge a new swimsuit for that Venetian summer beach scene. I love this floral number from Dolce & Gabbana—normally way above my price line!"

"I am still on the hunt for the ultimate leather jacket (I'm beginning to understand the sentiment of those searching for the Loch Ness Monster), but if there's anyone that knows leather, it's definitely Balenciaga—and with a price tag that requires a special occasion."

"These might be the most expensive jeans I will ever buy, but I figure my CPW (cost per wear) will make them a sound investment eventually, since I plan to wear them every day for the foreseeable future."

"I can't remember the last time my taxes gave me anything but a headache, but a girl can dream, right? These summer-perfect Gianvito Rossi sandals would help me do it. (Dream, that is. Not my taxes. But maybe they’d help there, too. They’re certainly smart enough.)

"Metro-North prefers to keep its train cars at subzero temps, so I am always looking for stylish ways to keep the AC at bay when I’m on the go. The solution? This poncho from È-EDITION, an Argentinean label started by my dear friend Eugenia Rebolini with Natalia Giannangeli."

"They say there are two things you can count on in life: death and taxes. While I’m not particularly fond of either, at least the latter comes with a return—occasionally. And instead of making my parents happy by being savvy and reinvesting, I’ll spend part of it on a sweatshirt by my beloved Vetements. From the second I saw it, I knew I had to have it. The high neckline and wide sleeves keep me covered like a turtleneck, but the high fashion concepts make it both work- and cocktail-friendly. Now, I just need to make sure I don’t buy the camouflage pants from them too."

“Lately I’ve been eschewing clothing purchases in order to save up for a few investment pieces of the bejeweled variety. As a celebration of (and reward for) completing my first ever tax return, I would treat myself to these simple-but-not-boring EF Collection diamond wave earrings.”

"I’ve wanted one of these robes since the first time I watched Titanic. A tax return splurge would be the ideal opportunity to get on Rose’s loungewear level."
