I was enchanted all over again by Stella Tennant (DNA): first on the runway at Prada, where she stood out amid models who in some cases were nearly 30 years younger than she is; second on the Rue St.-Honoré in Paris, where she strolled hand in hand with one of her gorgeous beanpole daughters; and third backstage at Balenciaga, where she gave me an engaging, spot-on sound bite about Demna Gvasalia’s debut for Vogue Runway’s video. Come back next season, Stella.

My eyes got into the groove of following Mica Arganaraz everywhere—the unconcerned way she paces forward with her curly bangs in her eyes and her neck stuck out is magnetically cool. But when I analyze it, the über-classy, intelligent Julia Nobis (DNA) was the transcendent face and sophisticated persona of the season. She carried every single one of the best looks in the best shows—Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, and Valentino, to name only three houses with very different identities—but she just owned all of them, as if born to it.

Every time I see her—on the runway or walking around with her equally impossibly good-looking boyfriend—Imaan Hammam (DNA) is like a jolt of good energy. And she also makes everything she wears look better. Kind of the point, no?

One model who I love seeing on all the top runways is Kendall Jenner (The Society). However, her turn as a blonde on Balmain’s runway was truly one of the most enchanting moments of the season. Parfait!

Dilone was the newish model you saw everywhere—always memorably—this season: She’s great. Estella Boersma has gorgeous poise and uncannily Lauren Bacall eyes. My favorite model of the season, though, was Irina Kravchenko (Women Management): She really inhabits clothes, especially at shows like Damir Doma or Margiela, where the collectsions demand a wearer with a tangible aura of substance to them. I hope she doesn’t disappear next season!

I won’t lie: I have my favorites, and honestly, I never tire of seeing Imaan Hammam (DNA) walk the runways. Her gait, her features, and those curls! They’re showstopping. It was equally exciting to see the unexpected presence of Hirakish on the Hood By Air runway—his improvisational walk that was half performance/half vogueing/half ballet still reverberates with me.

Dilone (DNA) has the same kind of allure for me that Binx [Walton] did, when she was starting out a few years back. They both seem like girls with opinions. When I watch Dilone walk down a runway, I get the sense she’s watching me—and by extension, the whole fashion scene—right back. People sometimes call that having “attitude,” but that word strikes me as demeaning—do boys ever get accused of having attitude? Let’s say Dilone is a girl who walks around like she’s entitled to her own point of view.

Frederikke Sofie (DNA)! A rallying cry for curl girls to unite and stand! I also love her Bill Gates-in-the-’80s nerd glasses.

Maartje Verhoef (Women Management)! She appears too effortless and natural, a true beauty. Her brows are to die for, too.

Everyone needs to toughen the hell up and take a cue from Ondria Hardin (DNA)! The leggy lone wolf had quite the tornado-type comeback on and off the runway this season. She has that uncensored, spitfire mouth underscored with a charming Southern twang. Her Instagram is like “Dear Abby” Gone Wild, or rather, a sassy advice column that has expletive-dotted inspirational quotes. Also, she just got a grill, which she shows off on the runway. Hardin is a no-filter trove with sharp cheekbones who does what she wants and makes everyone else seem like a boring geriatric.

Each time Adwoa Aboah (The Lions) turned up on a runway this season, I grew a little more smitten—with Marc Jacobs’s goth-stravaganza being the apex, naturally. What’s more? Her enviable personal style and the fact that, based on her Instagram, she seems like the kind of girl you’d just want to hang with.

Every season we’re treated to an array of new faces, and as much as I love being introduced to a whole new class of models, there is something wonderful about seeing a girl who has been in the industry achieve her moment. Back in 2012, I met an incredible young model named Marte Mei van Haaster (IMG)—she was coming off the heels of an excellent debut and filled with promise. An art student with an incredible knowledge of textiles and history, she impressed me with her intelligence and genuine enthusiasm for fashion.
Four years later, she’s coming off arguably the best season of her career and is still every bit as fascinating. Seeing her on the runway at Vetements in the show’s signature crimson hoodie was one of the highlights of the season for me, as was watching her close Hèrmes. Though she’s still got years ahead of her in her career, for me Van Haaster’s presence on the runway and winning personality represent the traits that lead to that rarest of achievements for a model: longevity.

Frederikke, Frederikke, Frederikke (DNA)! I’ve been obsessed with her since she was a Céline exclusive and have loved seeing her in so many shows this season. Her hair is an absolute dream.

There were so many standout model moments this season: Katherine Moore opening Alexander Wang, Rianne Van Rompaey closing Prada, a change of pace at Miu Miu (Adriana! Irina!). But the one who stands out the most would have to be Taylor Hill (IMG)—to be fair, we did spend roughly 72 consecutive hours with her in Paris.
On the last day of fashion month, I will always remember Taylor telling us the story of how she cried backstage after opening the Miu Miu show; she was so choked up with gratitude that she made Bella Hadid start crying tears of joy, too. This was the second time she busted out in tears. The first was during her Miu Miu fittings, where Ms. Prada herself told her that she would be opening the show. Everyone was apparently pleasantly surprised by the tears, said it was “refreshing” to see a model react this way to the news. And Taylor Hill is just that—refreshing.

I kept seeing that little Australian sprite Mali Koopman (Women Management) (soft, sleepy features plus tomboy-cool style) everywhere this season. When she told me about stealing her brother’s lip balm out of his pencil case as we chatted backstage at Phillip Lim, I fell in love with her easy grace.

Lineisy Montero (NEXT)! Love how versatile she is on the runway, and her street style is always on point—not to mention her Vogue walk-off!
