    My mom was very into me picking my own outfits every morning so I could develop my own personal style and gain independence. I don't particularly remember this denim jacket—my first denim jacket memory is a darker-wash one with a black velvet collar that I adored—but I would very well wear a similar summer layered look now, 22 years later. What I do know about this #tbt is that my whole hand-in-the-hair look was a favorite of mine upon my parents asking me to do my "model pose." Oy.
