This summer I am most interested in a bare, delicate, and glistening foot. I’m totally committed to wearing a babouche Moroccan slipper this summer. I saw so many men wearing the style while I was on vacation in Gambia as part of their traditional dress, so once I found out that Acne Studios had a graphic striped pair in their Spring collectsion, it was a no-brainer for me. I think the simplest shoe is often the best shoe, but especially in summer, when I want everything to be easy. I still think that Maryam Nassir Zadeh makes the perfect summer shoe. I wore my nude pair of Palma sandals incessantly last summer, and probably will this time around, too, but I am really feeling the mule slides (the Penelope and the Sophie, for different heel heights) in season-friendly shades like watermelon and marigold, patent and suede. When it comes to office-appropriate summer shoes, I tend to gravitate toward a sensible heel. (At 5-foot-3, I always seem to be surrounded by 6-foot-tall models at work.) They also have to be insanely comfortable, as I walk everywhere and it takes 10 minutes just to walk from the subway to the office in the morning. So the Carmelinas platforms are perfect; the ankle strap and platform make them easy to walk in for hours at a time.
