“People know me for my love of color, and though I’m not ready to ditch my bright and bold pieces just yet, I do like the idea of experimenting with a metallic wardrobe. I have a silver leather Alyx jacket that is super space-age and I adore it. Definitely looking to work more of that mirrored vibe—shiny socks, dresses, and shoes!—into my life.”

“I’m getting really excited about prints for 2016, which isn’t new, necessarily, but feels new to me. There’s just something about a gauzy Vilshenko floral-embroidered blouse or long-sweeping bohemian dress—romance!—that’s exactly where I want to be right now.”

“I’m shamelessly incorporating performancewear into my day looks in 2016: There is just too much cute activewear out there to only wear it to the gym. And at nighttime, I’ll be daring with a proper heel: I think we can all dare a bit more to shine! I definitely want to wear more denim and have been loving everything Marques ’ Almeida is doing: They are my new fashion crush! Also I’m obsessed with Proenza’s Resort collectsion—it’s really something to look forward to. Those back-laced bodysuits are a dream and their Spring . . . wow! Also, everything J.W.Anderson does . . .
“Gel manicures, fake lashes, and trying too hard to dress down feels so 2015, but 2016 is all about shoulders, clavicles, simple strong statements, your personality shining through your dressing, color, daring to be different, a good haircut, and Afros. If only I could with my hair—maybe I’ll go for cornrows again!”

“2015 was a big year for fashion. The runways went haute—but not haughty—for streetwear, from Yeezy to Vetements, prompting the majority of my minimal wardrobe to be offset by a hoodie. However, for the year ahead, I’m thinking slightly more tailored. While I’ll still incorporate lo-fi pieces here and there, I think that 2016 will be streamlined and sleek with subdued elegance. I’m also looking forward to adding a touch more color and print to provide contrast through some new labels I’ve been quietly buying like Atea Oceanie, Fear of God, and Trapstar. And while my style motto will be the same as this year’s, here’s hoping I discover if blonds do have more fun.”

“Confession: I tried to fight it, I really did. I even put it in writing, but I think I’m slowing becoming a Belieber, so in 2016 I resolve to be a fearless Gypsy Sport girl. Designer Rio Uribe doesn’t look back, why should any of us? I might even wear Gypsy Sport and these shoes to Justin Bieber’s 2016 Purpose tour! I found them on Instagram @brotherxparis and immediately showed Jorden Bickham, who styled them on Xiao Wen Ju with Gypsy Sport! Truly made my heart skip a sartorial beat. These shoes will remind me not to grow up too fast and to live more in the moment.”

“I have high hopes for a dressier 2016: less beanies, jeans, and tees; more pleats and pressed blouses. For me, though, I don’t really see a full transformation in the cards, but I would like to try and liven up my most pedestrian staples with some unexpected twists. Maybe I’ll take a page from Alessandro Michele’s rapidly evolving book of granny-meets-hipster-meets-Tenenbaums at Gucci, like a metallic jacquard blazer or cheeky embroidery and odd touches of fur. Or maybe it’s an ’80s squiggle print on a trouser or a surprising ruffle à la J.W.Anderson. Whatever the additions to my standby wares may be, I’m in the mood to try and go a little out of the box. New year, new you, right? Well, baby steps.”

“Recently, few things have elated me more than an unexpected email from the U.K. Border Force inviting me to enroll as a Registered Traveller. I’ve long envied U.K./European Union passport holders at Heathrow: The jealousy burns strongest after a red-eye flight, when filling out a landing card on my thigh somewhere in the middle of a 45-minute queue. But no longer: All that stands between me and Central London is a quick retina scan à la Minority Report. Call it Global Entry for Anglophiles.
“The news has inspired me to up my travel wardrobe in general. In the works are a pair of black-on-black Air Zoom Pegasus 32s from NikeiD; slim-fit Aspesi cargo trousers, as comfortable as sweatpants (but crucially not sweatpants); a prized Tom Ford Buckley backpack to alleviate the annoyance of balancing a tote bag on a rolling Rimowa suitcase; a value-pack shipment of Burt’s Bees to thwart the re-circulated chill of an overnight flight; plus a few more soldiers to join my battalion of gray James Perse tees.

“I pretty much only shop vintage anyway, but reports like this only embolden that resolve—that, and a constant desire to dress like a Jacques Rivette heroine. If I do buy new in 2016, it will be from designers who are committed to sustainability practices. I know, nothing brings on the yawns like the prefix ‘eco,’ but I think working within parameters actually will inspire much more creative, interesting ideas from designers. Bring it on.”
