“It’s been amazing,” Paul Anthony Kelly—the man of the hour—told Vogue. The Canadian actor is still riding high after this breakthrough role as JFK Jr. in Ryan Murphy’s Love Story. “This is what you work hard for,” he said.
On a balmy Tuesday evening in the Miami Design District, Swiss watchmaker Vacheron Constantin unveiled its new flagship boutique: a sprawling two-story outpost that’s now the brand’s largest store in the Americas. Kelly was in town to fete the opening—after all, he’s been rocking Vacheron Constantin on his wrist as of late, including for his recent Oscars debut.
Guests entered through a soaring atrium flooded in natural light, where terrazzo floors are etched with a compass rose motif—an homage to the brand’s Overseas collectsion. “There is no doubt that you can feel the spirit of being in Miami,” Alexander Schmiedt, the brand’s U.S. president, said as he gestured towards the palm-framed verdant patio and lush garden.
Attendees sipped classic martinis and inventive cocktails as they tucked into trays of wagyu Cuban sandwiches—a nod to a local favorite. A live set of Latin indie-pop came courtesy of La Espe before a dramatic dance performance, choreographed to Rosalia’s Berghain that unfolded mid-room.
Kelly moved through the crowd with ease, his presence drawing a steady stream of attention. Wearing a beige Giuliva suit with brown Di Bianco loafers and a Historiques American 1921 wristwatch, the new dad looked effortless and perfectly dialed into Miami cocktail attire. “I’m a big watch guy,” he said as he lingered at the curated vitrines of Les Collectionneurs vintage and Cabinotiers masterpieces; a private collectsion that’s rarely seen in public. “And I’m a nerd—I want to know about the complications.”
That curiosity started early. “My parents bought me a really nice Seiko before I went to college, when I was just 18,” he recalled. “I don’t even remember what model it was, but it was nice.” The real gateway for his watch enthusiasm was an eBay purchase a few years later when he turned 22-years-old: a 1987 Omega Speedmaster from Japan with its original box and papers. “I got it for $800,” he disclosed with excitement.
When asked whether his sartorial instincts have evolved alongside his portrayal of JFK Jr.—a role that has notably spawned a frenzy of copycat dressing—Kelly grounded his response in something more personal. “I think it has maybe solidified [my style] a bit more, but I like to dress impeccably and just be a big kid…playful,” he shared with a smile. “My style comes from my grandfather, and he always told me: ‘The better you dress, the worse you can act.’”
Nearby, Chanel Iman, fresh off appearances at the Miami Open where she supported her friend Taylor Townsend, spoke animatedly about her time courtside. “I love Miami!” she told Vogue, pausing between photos with fellow model Karolina Kurkova. “And I love tennis—it’s my favorite sport. Tyson Beckford, rapper Noreaga, and polo legend Nacho Figueras added to the room’s unmistakable swag, while designers like Naeem Khan and Kennedy Yanko caught up with friends and clients.
Beckford, a decades-long muse for Ralph Lauren, made headlines with his runway return earlier this year. “That wasn’t supposed to be my original look,” he told Vogue, sharing the behind-the-scenes magic of the unscripted oversized fur coat moment that swooned the internet. “They said ‘Try this coat on,’ and then I started steaming a cowboy hat because it was such a natural fit. They were shocked I had experience with these hats—I told them I have at least ten of these at home!”
