“I am ridiculously predictable: Ridgewood jeans from The Row, black snub-toed Repettos, and blue oxford shirts in boys size 16 from Du Pareil au Même in Paris. And my Balenciaga peacoat from the Nicolas years. I also have a camel cashmere sweater from ESK that is ‘fully fashioned’ and a big white cashmere one from Céline that I rotate between. There’s a Céline trenchcoat from Phoebe’s first collectsion that comes out way too often. What’s always on my shopping list? Fogal tights; Wolford Stay Ups; Vilshenko blouses; small leather goods from Choosing Keeping; and any long, white, vaguely empire dress that could have once been owned by a waitress serving steamed veggies and carrot dressing at the Source circa 1970.”

“Thom Brownecardigans, oxford shirts, and cropped wide-leg trousers: They never fail to save me when I can’t figure out what to wear. I also take my leisure suits very seriously! I just got these Helmut Lang men’s combat boots today, and I will wear them now with my cropped Dickies, which I have in every color, along with a chunky sweater like this amazing Rag & Bone x Coogi! Once it warms up, I’ll wear them with a slinky slip dress with my favorite Alpha jackets.”

“Beyond the basics of good, straight blue jeans from Re/Done or an A-line miniskirt and a slim cashmere sweater from either Bella Freud or Courrèges, a really bold, sort-of-romantic coat never loses interest for me. Big fur cuffs and collar, an exaggerated hood, embroidery, sweeping hem, big shaggy silhouette, that type of thing. I find them very hard to resist!”

“Honestly, I really only shop for new versions of an old formula. For my top half: a bomber for warmer days. I always buy a new nylon from Alpha, but this year matured with a black leather from Unravel. I love a fox fur for the current temperatures and am particularly loyal to Pologeorgis. Vintage white tees (they shred to destruction within a few months). On the bottom: It’s vintage Levi’s with a very high waist that are slightly cropped. Wide-leg cropped trousers for work that—do note—are definitely different from a culotte. For shoes, it’s Chelsea boots, mules, and anything that looks like a classic lace-up Van. I’ll also put my money on that I’ll be buying some new earrings from Céline or Annelise Michelson to make the rest of the same feel a little bit different.”

“With her classic, preppy ’70s vibe, the Chloé girl is my perennial muse! Her long blonde hair, military-inspired coats, and pretty, romantic underpinnings are the epitome of daytime chic to me. I find myself wearing this combination with a little boot and day bag year after year. My morning equation is simple knowing my collectsion of feminine dresses and polished jackets are already hanging in my closet . . . but there’s always room for one more!”

“Most of my wardrobe is built upon pieces I wear time and time again. If I am not wearing it within six months of buying it, out of my closet it goes! Staples for me include leather jackets, blazers, skinny jeans, knit pencil skirts, soft white T-shirts, and—because I work out every day—canvas totes. I tend to buy crewneck sweaters, jeans, and flats over and over again. Seeing as though I am 6-feet-tall, I have a pretty extensive flat-shoe collectsion mainly built around Stubbs & Wootton, Grenson, Bass, and Prada. When I get up in the morning, the last thing I want to do is overthink my outfit. Best to be comfortable and relaxed so that I can commute comfortably to appointments and focus on my work throughout the day. I keep it pretty simple in a color palette of gray, white, black, cream, and navy. I tend to put on a long knit pencil skirt with a relaxed tee, leather jacket, and either brogues or ankle boots. In the winter I layer a pencil skirt and always wear my American Apparel beanie. Recently I have become obsessed with bodysuits under just about everything.”

“Year after year I find myself hunting for the sale essentials—even though becoming a ‘uniform dresser’ is an idea I dread. Still, A-line miniskirts, lug-soled black oxfords, and ’70s-ish turtlenecks make up the majority of my wardrobe and—if a recent shopping spree is any indication—will continue to for years to come.”

“When overthinking what to wear, I always end up resorting to a good cropped sweater, my Saint Laurent high-waisted jeans (which I shamelessly own three pairs of), and Golden Goose booties. As I approach the new year (with a new and strict budget in mind!), I am going to attempt to only splurge on pieces such as these that I know I will wear over and over again. As far as jewelry goes, my CVC stone has become part of my everyday. Whether I am dressed down or up, I can’t seem to get enough of it—it happens to work well with everything!”

“I will be wearing my Isabel Marant Dicker boots forever and ever—they are such a staple to me! I have multiple pairs that I’ve had to get resoled numerous times. That being said, I am an avid Isabel Marant fan, so I will continue to buy her clothes! I also can’t live without my Zara skinny jeans.”

“Rarely does a day go by that I’m not wearing jeans. I feel the most like myself in them—they’re comfortable, versatile, and way more flattering than trousers. They suck you in! Right now I’m living in a pair of high-rise cropped jeans with a released hem from Artizia’s in-house denim label, The Castings. I’d wear them every day if I could—I even bought a second pair for fear of spills, rips, lost luggage, et cetera. Perfect jeans also lend themselves to my other go-to item: jackets. My five-minute uniform is usually cropped jeans, a T-shirt, suede ballet flats, and a cool jacket or blazer. I just got a velvet military jacket from Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren that is destined to be a favorite for years to come. And if I could own Repetto ballets in every color of the rainbow, I’d never need to buy another shoe.
“Since my ‘uniform’ is pretty minimal, I always wear very personal jewelry: a few rings my mom has given me, my favorite Maria Black or Beaufille earrings, and silver and gold bracelets I’ve acquired over the years. Those pieces make even my most basic outfits feel special.”

“I usually don’t find myself radically changing any aspect of my look, physically or sartorially, after the new year. However, over time I’ve noticed the paradigm of what I consider my core wardrobe essentials shifting. While two years ago you couldn’t have paid me to wear a pair of culottes or any jeans other than my various skinnies, culottes have taken their place in my heart and wardrobe. They are surprisingly flattering, and the right length and cut creates a waist-whittling and leg-lengthening effect I can’t seem to get enough of!”
