Ready or not, New York Fashion Week is coming—and sooner than you might think. It officially kicks off on Wednesday, September 7, with a runway show of Parsons School of Design’s MFA graduates and students at Made and continues through the 15th, closing with Marc Jacobs’s show. What happens in between? Time will tell, though we can guarantee that a crop of new talent will be descending on the city to present their collectsions as a part of Made’s always boundary-pushing lineup. Meet the young guns showing for the first time at Made, below.

The vibe: The Mexico–born designer twists ’90s and
early-aughts nostalgia into pieces that have a unisex feel with a touch of kitsch. Think: oversize hoop earrings, jeans turned upside down to be dresses, and a famed Leonardo DiCaprio crying MS-DOS tears tee.

The Vibe: Bösch and Gadient set their Fall 2016 collectsion ablaze, modifying garments with blowtorches. If that sounds slightly wild, the resulting pieces are surprisingly wearable, savvy deconstructions of classics like jeans, sweatshirts, and suiting.

The vibe: Consider Derœux’s sleek ready-to-wear the Parisian take on athleisure. The Belgian-trained designer—he studied at the Antwerp Academy of Fine Arts and La Cambre—injects his architectural silhouettes with pops of color, unexpected details like car-wash pleating, and a luxurious sensibility.

The vibe: Maczek specializes in a cooler-than-thou streetwear aesthetic that marries current trends—see: gothic lettering and photo prints—with a rebellious spirit. She produces both womenswear and menswear, and many pieces come adorned with the MISBHV logo.

The vibe: Launched in 2014, Maison the Faux is a concept collectsion that challenges the norms of fashion. Translation: Suk, De Boer, and their collectsive of designers and artists engage with and mock the fashion system.

The vibe: Having collaborated with Opening Ceremony (seen at left) and Hood By Air, eyewear brand Gentle Monster is branching out and hosting its first NYFW runway show. The Korean label’s bold, artsy spirit will likely translate well to the catwalk—and if its New York store opening party is any indication, you can expect a few celebs front row, too.

The vibe: Lopez, a former designer at Hood By Air, specializes in tech streetwear for men. His former label, Luar Zepol, was carried at Opening Ceremony; now he’s back with a new brand, simply called Luar, and perhaps a new take on men’s dressing. You’ll have to tune in to his show at Made to see what the New Yorker comes up with next.
