In Dallas, Cecily Waud and Lance Scott Celebrated the Launch of LC Studio With a Stylish Soirée
When it comes to fashion and fine interiors, you can’t have one without the other, according to LC Studio’s Cecily Waud and Lance Scott. The duo officially broke into the design world as a pair at one of the most anticipated events of the year, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House.
Hosted annually in Dallas, Texas, the showhouse gathered 24 top designers from across the country to transform the iconic Old Preston Hollow estate into their own. From the cascading staircase entry to the expansive outdoor lounges, every inch of the home was dressed to the nines.
As the youngest designer tapped to participate in this year’s showhouse, Waud demonstrated her impeccable eye for sophisticated yet stylish pieces. The New York City native is an avid collectsor of top designers and contemporary art, which has developed her talent for seamlessly blending the worlds of fashion and design.
Her signature fusion is only enhanced by partner and established interior designer, Scott. From New York to Palm Beach, Scott has flexed his muscles curating modern spaces with his taste and flare as an associate at the highly acclaimed design firm David Kleinberg.
“Cecily is a maximalist,” Scott smiled. “She adds the layers to our spaces and the much-needed addition of color while I bring the tailored details and the references to the past eras of design that influence us all.”
The launch of LC Studio combines two forces that champion contemporary design and create effortlessly stylish spaces that breathe life back into interiors. Titled “Midnight Lounge,” LC Studio’s debut space was set in the heart of the home, the family room. Instead of a traditional place to put your feet up after a long day, Waud and Scott reimagined the gathering space as a moody cocktail lounge. “The inspiration for this room came one night when we were sitting in Cecily's townhouse in New York City,” Scott explained. “Friends were calling to stop by after their dinners just to hang out and have a nightcap. It hit us that, we needed to make a space to collects with family and friends. A bit sexier than the typical family room. Hence the deep loungey banquette and the tequila pong table.”
Only Waud could make a drinking game high fashion by sourcing Luisa Beccaria cocktail glasses and sterling silver ping-pong balls. The bright bay windows combined with the navy lacquer walls that are brushed out into a subtle ombre play into the cosmopolitan meets cozy feel without trying too hard. Of course, the pair of custom sconces that double as artwork anchor the space. The white gold-leaf eglomise panels in the back of the bar also add a sexy yet understated reflective glow. Other highlights include the vintage accessories from Maison Gerard, especially the mushshroom side tables that are equally down to earth and out of this world.
To celebrate the start of the design duo’s journey, Waud and Scott gathered friends, family, and fashion folk for a decadent dinner party at none other than The Joule. Co-hosted by Architectural Digest’s market director Madeline O’Malley, the evening drew a notable crowd including Alex Papachristidis, Holly Moore, Jonathan Savage, Bob Brown, Jamie Drake, Billy Fong, Brian Bolke, Chad Dorsey, Nazira Handal, and Jane Scott Hodges to name a few.
The dining room was outfitted in three gorgeous tablescapes, each with its own color scheme. The velvet napkins were an elegant touch that complemented the bountiful floral centerpieces. Dallas native, Todd Fiscus brilliantly curated the evening affair with his team at Todd Events.
Before the first course was plated, O’Malley rose to say a few words. “I’m so honored to be here to support the amazing designers in the room. I want to toast Cecily and Lance. It’s incredible to see the industry come together to support emerging talent, and that is exactly what tonight is all about.”
On the menu, a seasonal tomato tart started off the meal before a filet of cod was served for the main course. Flanking the room, martini and margarita carts were eager to refresh drinks all night long. The evening was a perfectly executed social extension of LC Studio’s visionaries. It was vibrant and fabulous, just like the designers themselves. “We have the background to bring curated and highly elevated interiors, but always with a sense of coolness and fun,” Scott explained.
To say that we are excited to see what LC Studio does next would be an understatement.
