Kate Hudson didn’t know what she was wearing to the 2026 Oscars until the morning of the ceremony. “I don’t want to take any chances on the day that I want to feel just comfortable,” she told Vogue ahead of the red carpet. “It was just so important to me that I felt like I wasn’t going to have any dress anxiety.”
To combat her nerves, Hudson—who was nominated for best actress for her performance in Song Sung Blue—called on a brand she knew she could trust. “I wanted to work with people who I have a relationship with and I know would show up, and Armani just does that in such a beautiful way,” she says. “Their craftsmanship is just incredible and they’re allowing me to have options.”
The actor landed on a bejeweled jade green gown replete with a sweetheart neckline and peplum, which hails from Armani Privé’s spring 2026 collectsion. She kept the minty hue in play with her Garatti jewelry, wearing a diamond necklace with more than 41 carats of green diamonds.
Even though she didn’t make her final call until the day of the Oscars, Hudson had some criteria: “I wanted to have a really pretty silhouette on the carpet, and I wanted to feel nice and held, and I want it to feel elegant, and I want to feel bright and colorful,” she says. In an essence: “I want to feel like I’m breathing in.”
And though she’s been on the awards circuit since last year, Hudson wanted her dress to signal what comes next—not what she’s leaving behind. “I want it to feel like something new—like the beginning of creation, not the end of it,” she says. “I think these moments can feel like the final part of this experience, and it is. But to me, energetically, I want it to feel like the beginning of a new chapter.”
