Imaan Hammam and Drake Got All the Attention at Last Night’s Frame Dinner

Last night, black cars and paparazzi lingered in front of the unassuming entrance of Chinese Tuxedo. Inside, the former opera house was a scene of glamorous claustrophobia: Models, socialites, celebrities, and editors pushed up against one another in the dim bar.

Tastemakers and talents of all varieties came out to toast Frame’s capsule collectsion with Imaan Hammam. The limited line, celebrating diversity and individuality, debuts next Monday.

Downstairs, tables were dazzlingly set in shades of red and orange. DJ Moma spun tracks, as the beautiful people—Carolyn Murphy, Sean O’Pry, Indira Scott, and Daphne Groeneveld to name a few—compared Fashion Week schedules. Drake, regal in his fur-lined coat, descended the stairs to join Hammam’s table.

Once guests finally found their seats (personalized chopstick sleeves replaced traditional place cards), a dinner of dumplings, spring rolls, and tuna delighted. Champagne flutes and margaritas littered the tables.

When asked about his night, Erik Torstensson, the brand’s cofounder and creative director, deadpanned: “No one cool is here. Total bust.”

Behind him, people danced in their chairs. The roar of chatter beat out the throb of music. “Cool” has never been a problem for Frame. Since its launch in 2012, the label has attracted It girls (Emily Ratajkowski, Dree Hemingway, Lauren Santo Domingo) and party boys (Jordan Barrett, Peter Dundas). For four years, Hammam, the 23-year-old beauty and three-time Vogue cover star, has been a friend to the brand, known for its unbeatable parties. From the lavish Thanksgiving soirée to the epic fifth-anniversary fete, any invitation to a Frame fete is among the most coveted.

As the meal concluded, voguing dancers twirled down the stairs. The bass jolted the crowd, who clapped and hollered as the entertainers leaped around the room. Hammam jumped to her feet to join them. Cameras flashed as she moved, lost in the swell of energy and light.
