This Week, the Best Dressed Stars Were On the Fringe

Every so often, one trend captures Hollywood’s imagination. Last week, as celebrities and influencers headed out to enjoy New York Fashion Week and promote their latest films, they embraced the beauty of fringe. Tassels were in high demand and stars found exciting ways to incorporate them into their outfits. Currently delighting onlookers with her outré maternity style, Rihanna went for the most daring incarnation of the trend arriving at a celebration for her Fenty beauty brands in a custom two-piece from The Attico. In bright shades of apple green and fuschia, her crop top and ombré pants would have been striking sans embellishment, but the layers of dangling squared sequins elevated the entire look. 

Jennifer Lopez’s Marry Me press tour has been a nonstop fashion extravaganza, and when it came time to debut the film’s songs with fans, Lopez pulled out the haute couture. She made numerous outfit changes during a special, streamed concert, but Lopez’s standout look was a flowing fringed top decorated with thousands of bronze micro-beads. The piece from Elie Saab’s spring 2022 couture collectsion was a worthy look for a bride, and a fitting choice for promoting a rom-com with a matrimonial theme. 

Emily Ratajakowski hit up the Super Bowl pre-parties in L.A. wearing a crepe mini dress from Proenza Schouler detailed with ’70s-style hanging beads, while Cate Blanchett dazzled in Madrid in a silver Armani Privé gown. High drama fringe will always capture attention, but subtle versions looked just as good. New York Fashion Week’s sleekest look was white Herve Leger fishnet dress worn by content creator Leonie Hanne as she made her way to the collectsions. An elegant piece that moved with each step Hanne took it, swished and swayed as she made her way past the swarms of street-style photographers.
