Spring is finally here, and with it, springtime dressing: pastoral, pretty, playful. Anya Taylor-Joy, for one, is kicking off her Super Mario Galaxy Movie press tour in a runway-tipped spring summer 2026 trend: the apron dress.

The actor, who stars as the iconic Princess Peach in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, stepped out for a press event in Osaka, Japan wearing a rose and green floral mini apron dress by August Barron. The dress, from the brand’s “Real Housewife” spring 2026 collectsion, features a soft pattern, halter apron straps, and a flippy, sheer skirt. Styled by Ryan Hastings, she also wore dusty pink, pointed open-toe sandals and several Tiffany&Co. rings. Leaning more into the supremely feminine aesthetic of Peach, she wore her icy blonde hair half-up, half-down with a brick red lip and matching nails.

Aprons were a surprise standout trend with designers and on the runways for this coming season. Miu Miu sent aprons down the catwalk as a “consideration of the work of women,” described as “simultaneously utilitarian and decorative,” then worn on the red carpet by Emma Corrin who styled one over a tee and jeans. The apron, here, feels like a funhouse mirror reflecting the times we’re in, interrogating the theater of femininity amid the era of the trad wife. Myha’la stepped out for the Industry season four premiere wearing a leather iteration, a smart, sexed up take on workwear. (Like Anya Taylor-Joy on previous occasions, she was also styled by Law Roach.)

Rather, for August Barron and designers Benjamin Barron and Bror August Vestbø, it’s a piece within a collectsion of multi-layer cardigans, poufy petticoat skirts, and shirts and slips that warp sensually around the body. 1950s-esque curtain fabrics and pearl-studded straps were juxtaposed with BDSM style boots and leathers. It’s an offering that expands on the tensions within femininity by subverting domestic stereotypes and playing with various states of undress.

Another look was a bit more of a switch-up from the usual Anya Taylor-Joy press tour formula, with the actor opting for some low-rise, dark blue jeans. Up top, she paired them with a pink, delicate floral embroidered Erdem tank with long red bows affixed to the shoulders, taken from the designer’s fall winter 2026 collectsion. A much more casual, but nonetheless just as sweet look. (And, perfectly, Peachy!)
